25th Chevron NO/AIDS WALK, with presenting sponsors Avita Pharmacy and Shell
Sunday September 21, 2014
Registration begins at 8:00am, Walk begins at 10:00am
Audubon Park - 6500 Magazine St. - New Orleans
We’re celebrating 25 years of the Chevron NO/AIDS WALK, with presenting sponsors Avita Pharmacy and Shell, and we thank you for your past support! In that time, we have raised more than $5 million for HIV and AIDS services and we have collectively walked to the moon and back twice. That’s over a million miles.
Your support is greatly appreciated! It is because of people and organizations like yours that the Task Force today boasts some 30 programs benefitting more than 3,300 clients directly and more than 12,000 people through our community outreach programs.
On Sunday, September 21, we will gather again in Audubon Park to walk because we still have miles to go in our fight against this disease. We hope you can join us in support of those we lost, those living with the disease today, and in hope that one day there is a cure.
Louisiana ranks as one of the hardest hit states with New Orleans and Baton Rouge in the top 10 cities for new infections.
The purpose of the WALK is not only to enhance the awareness of HIV and AIDS in our community, but also to raise the much-needed funds to provide vital services for those affected by the disease. All of your funds stay right here in New Orleans and the Gulf South to help people in our own communities.
Some of our programs include prevention education, HIV antibody testing and counseling, the Louisiana Statewide HIV/AIDS Hotline, primary medical care/ early intervention services, peer support, behavioral health, support groups, case management, housing coordination, medicine assistance, home-delivered meals and a food bank program.
Again, we thank you and our clients thank you to the moon and back for your past generosity. We hope that you will join us again and renew your commitment to fighting HIV and AIDS. We hope that one day there will be a cure, but until there is…NO/AIDS Task Force is here.
