Walking with our UU Team in 2015

First Unitarian Universalist Church New Orleans

The First Unitarian Universalist Church of New Orleans has had a team to walk and raise funds for the NO/AIDS Task Force in the Greater New Orleans Area for a number of years. Last year our walkers exceeded our goal for the vital work of NO/AIDS. First UU Church is proud to have Food For Friends as a partner in our community kitchen. Their staff and volunteers have been preparing and delivering nutritious meals every week from our beautiful industrial kitchen to homebound clients living with HIV/AIDS since 2013.  Every day, staff and volunteers tirelessly work to provide support, care and dignity to those living with HIV/AIDS in the greater New Orleans area. They provide a variety of services such as medical care, home delivered meals, food pantry services, mental health, and case management. NO/AIDS also provides HIV prevention education as well as HIV testing and counseling to tens of thousands of people each year. In addition, through the Walk Share Grant Program, many other AIDS service organizations across the state also benefit from this event.

Please sponsor our TEAM to help fight AIDS and help provide services in the New Orleans Area. If you'd like to make a donation to to show your support of our efforts, just click the donate button to the right.

You may also make a donation via cash or check and give it to any participating NO/AIDS walker.

We have a banner and are expecting a large group to march.  The team will meet up between 9:15-9:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 24th. Walk starts promptly at 10 a.m. Wear your Church T-shirt or Standing on the Side of Love T-Shirts. This is a fun event and this year we will walk the Audubon Track.  NO/AIDS will be collecting items to assist Louisiana Flood victims in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank. Check out the list of needed items at the Walk homepage.

We hope to have our GNOUU partner churches joint us for the 2016 NO/AIDS Walk. It's a challenge to all UUs!
